Brentwood, Tennessee trails under way
Volunteer trail diggers began clearing the way for a new trail network in Brentwood, Tennessee. We wrote about the new trails in December for the first time. The Middle Tennessee SORBA chapter will start with 2.5 miles. Volunteers cleared about a quarter-mile. The park will have a total of seven miles, serving residents and scholastic mountain bike programs.
Joplin, Missouri bike park
Missouri state received about $30 million in grants from the American Rescue Plan Act to support the tourism industry after the pandemic and about $1.5 million will go toward a new recreation area in Joplin.
The proposed park, called the Dover Outdoor Recreation Area would have a 1.5-mile mountain bike trail, and skills park features too, according to Yahoo! Life.
First phase of Libro Centre trails open soon in Ontario
Phase one of a new bike trail in Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada is slated to open in June. The Windsor Essex Bike Community has been working with the Town of Amherstburg to make the trail possible. The first phase is supposed to have three downhill trails, a climbing trail, and a cross-country trail.
New trails in the works in Ohio
The Portage Park District and city of Aurora, Ohio are adding over four miles of hike and bike trails in the Aurora and Mantua Township. The trails project is phase 8 of the Headwater Trails, adding to the existing 8.5 miles of trail, with construction expected to start next year.
New trails to Northport, Alabama
The City of Northport, Alabama, near Tuscaloosa, is moving forward on the first phase of a trails plan. A master plan was approved by the city council and once the plan is complete, the park will have mountain bike trails, hiking trails, zip lines and cabins. The city will start the plan with a parking lot and trails.
Oregon club gets grant for pump track
The Blue Mountain Singletrack Trails Club, based in Northeast Oregon has received a $20,000 grant to build a new, beginner-friendly pump track, according to the La Grande Observer, which will help enhance riding for youth in the area. Construction on the pump track is slated to start in 2024 and organizers are still seeking additional financial support.
