Jump trail opens in Boyne City, Michigan

A new bike trail that alludes to good times in the name has opened in Boyne City, Michigan in the upper lower peninsula. The Dare Ya Intermediate Plus Jump Line is new to the Boyne Forest Trail System thanks to efforts of the Top of Michigan Mountain Bike Association.

First of six trails opens in Florence, Alabama

A new professionally built trail at Wildwood Park in Florence, Alabama opened. The trail started as a concept in 2019 and is the first trail of six planned for the park. The trail is green-rated and located a few minutes away from the University of North Alabama.

Mountain bike orgs awarded grants for trail maintenance

The National Forest System Trail Stewardship Funding Program awarded 17 different trail projects over $250,000 in total, with seven of the awards benefitting projects open to mountain biking. These projects total over $70,000, which according to IMBA, will help tackle facility and trail maintenance.

Rutabaga Ride opens in Colorado

A new trail at the popular Lair of the Bear park outside of Morrison, Colorado has opened, diverting some bike traffic away from a busy corridor near the beginning and the end of the trail. Thanks to the efforts of the Colorado Mountain Bike Association, mountain bikers now have a bike-only downhill trail option close to four miles in length.

It’s that time of year where bike parks across the world open. Here are some of the latest opening dates:

  • Snow Valley Bike Park, California: Opened May 26 for weekend hours
  • Summit Bike Park, California: June 8 for season pass holders, June 9 for public
  • Trestle Bike Park, Colorado: June 16

Former Irish police officer accused of placing trail traps

A former police officer in Ireland was questioned regarding his potential involvement in placing traps over mountain bike trails in the Binevenagh Forest, according to Sunday World. Law enforcement encouraged local riders to be safe on the trails and look out for other potential wires strewn across singletrack.

New trails at Ball Mountain Lake in Vermont

The Jamaica (Vermont) Mountain Bike Association will officially open its first trail tomorrow at Ball Mountain Lake. The trail, called Having a Ball, was built in cooperation with the US Army Corps of Engineers.

$4M mountain bike experience planned for New South Wales

Mogo Mountain Bike Base recently unveiled plans for a $4M “mountain bike experience” featuring trails, a pump track, and skills area in New South Wales, Australia. The base will also feature cabins and campsites with access to the Maulbrooks Trail Network.
